Unisys Corporation has signed a five-year contract with Sprint to help the communications company enhance its voicemail infrastructure. Unisys says it will develop a next-generation communications architecture that will allow Sprint the flexibility to more rapidly deploy new and innovative services for its customers.
Unisys will provide high-level consulting and systems integration services and a communications platform, which will deliver enhanced services over a unified messaging platform to Sprint’s more than 53 million customers. The company currently provides the communications messaging platform for a subset of the Sprint wireless network.
The plan is to deliver enhanced voicemail, multimedia, entertainment, and other enhanced services on a single platform.
Data Connection Limited (DCL) was selected as one of the key partners for the next generation voice messaging. DCL will be providing the voice messaging software for the communications messaging platform.
Unisys provides voice messaging and enhanced communications services with customers in over 40 countries and more than 150 million voicemail users. Telecom New Zealand uses the Unisys voice mail platform, but is in the process of migrating to a new platform provided by a competitor.
