Sprite Backup 6.0 for Windows Mobile released
Sprite Software Ltd. has released Sprite Backup 6.0, the newest edition of its Microsoft Windows Mobile backup and recovery software.

Sprite Backup 6.0 adds significant new functionality to its feature-set and is the first solution of its kind to fully support Windows Mobile 6 storage card encryption.

New Zealand-based Sprite Software says its software addresses an oversight in the design by Microsoft which rendered encrypted data inaccessible after a device hard-reset. It also offers additional off-device content protection with its remote backup capability which allows backups to be sent over-the-air. Sprite Backup 6.0 also now provides smartphone owners a way to move their entire phone content to a replacement handset.

Sprite Backup is designed to create a backup image of your mobile device, including contacts, calendars, data, applications, configuration and settings. This image can be quickly and easily restored to your device if ever you need to do a hard-reset, effectively allowing you to be back up and running within minutes, not hours. “It is the application installation, configuration, and device settings that take the most time to reconfigure if you have to reset your device”, said Sean Connolly, Chief Executive Officer of Sprite Software Ltd. “PIM Synchronization only manages contacts, calendar entries, and some data, leaving hours of time and effort still required for the end user to restore their smartphone to its original state.”

In order to meet the needs of two markets, two versions of Sprite Backup 6.0 will be offered. Users who want full flexibility in the way they manage their backup and recovery process will want Sprite Backup 6.0 Full Edition. This version offers all of the functionality that previous versions provide, as well as the backup card functionality.

More cost-sensitive users who just want fast, reliable device backup will be satisfied with Sprite Backup 6.0 Lite Edition. The Lite Edition provides all of the on-device functionality including all of the Windows Mobile 6 features, but does not include any PC Backup management or remote backup capabilities.

Customers who purchased the previous version after 1st April 2007 will soon receive an e-mail with instructions for their free upgrades.
