Palm and Vodafone launch Treo 500v in Australia
Palm, Inc. has announced the Palm Treo 500v smartphone on the Vodafone network in Australia. The new smartphone combines multiple forms of communication and multimedia capabilities with high-speed 3G mobile Internet access.

The new Treo 500v smartphone will be available in Australia exclusively through Vodafone for several months.

The Palm Treo 500v smartphone runs on a Windows Mobile 6 Standard platform, which means it is the first Palm Treo that does not have a touchscreen. It has a full keyboard, large screen, video streaming capability and a comprehensive multi-messaging functionality covering Instant Messaging, SMS, email and phone and personal information management software in a new design.

With the Palm Treo 500v smartphone customers can also manage documents using mobile versions of familiar Microsoft applications like Outlook, Office, and Windows Live for Windows Mobile. In addition users can share the Treo 500v smartphone's data access with a laptop, so they can stay connected anywhere within wireless coverage.

Users now have access to Vodafone live! services from this Windows Mobile device.

The new device comes with a built-in 2.0 megapixel camera for stil and video capture. Users will benefit of its 150 MB memory, which can be expanded with microSD expansion cards. The Treo 500v also sports Bluetooth wireless technology.
