I've been to the Handspring web site today and decided to visit its New Zealand version. I was fascinated to find out that the latest news was posted in almost a year ago (28 May 02)...
But what really made me think was the interesting fact that http://www.handspring.co.nz translates to http://220.127.116.11:8081 and it's shown in the URL address, instead of the expected Handspring name.
This is not a usual port for web servers. Curious as I am, I tried the address without the strange port number. The result? You might not want to go there if browsing from work. It's the website for Stiletto, the "world's finest short stay boutique hotel" in Sydney, Australia.
I understand this is not a big deal. And it's not a Handspring problem either. At most it's a server configuration problem, where the IP address is shown in the URL address instead of the server name, causing this kind of problem. In no way I think Handspring has any knowledge of contents in servers hosted by other companies.
