Tomorrow December 4th is New Zealand's inaugural Christmas Tweetup at Deschlers Bar, High St in Auckland.

New Zealand is as far as we know the only country in the world to hold a National Christmas Twitter Party.
This year Tweet-ups in Auckland have prospered with monthly events attended by over 50 people. We've had tweet-ups at bars, at a park with Fish n Chips and at a Beautifully restored restaurant to mention a few. This offline networking has created many wonderful relationships, helped businesses flourish and entertained many.
According to @bwagy New Zealand has over 250,000 Twitter accounts with some 50,000 active users. This is a huge increase from the 10-20k users speculated at the start of 2009.
New Zealands Social Media community is robust, prolific, passionate and very supportive. Its these qualities that lead to the call for a National Tweet-up to celebrate the year and further promote the value of our social connectedness.
