TomTom car kit for iPhone now available in New Zealand
TomTom has officially announced the availability of the TomTom car kit for iPhone at selected retailers.

“The TomTom car kit for iPhone has been designed with safety and quality in mind,” said Chris Kearney, Marketing Manager, TomTom. “Its range of cutting-edge features ensures an optimised driving and navigation experience with the TomTom for iPhone app.”

The TomTom for iPhone app is sold separately. The updated version (1.2) of the TomTom for iPhone app can now also be purchased at the App Store. The updated version of the software will be made available for free to existing TomTom app customers and is now also compatible with the original iPhone when used in conjunction with the car kit.

The secure mount with its unique design, docks the iPhone in the desired position on the windscreen or dashboard, using a twist-and-lock motion. It allows the user to securely rotate the iPhone to either portrait or landscape mode for optimal positioning and route display.

It also offers built-in GPS receiver that reduces the chance of signal drop out in areas of limited GPS reception, such as cities with tall buildings or forested areas, improving positioning for accuracy in all areas.

A built-in loud speaker and microphone allows for clear voice instructions through the built-in speaker, while the integrated microphone and speaker allows hands-free calling while driving.

The car kit also charges the iPhone while on the go.

The TomTom car kit for iPhone has a recommended retail price of NZ$199.99 and is available at JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman (limited stores), Dick Smith Electronics (online and limited stores),
