Movistar (Telefonica of Spain) offers video download on GPRS now
Posted on 20-May-2003 07:54 | Tags Filed under: News

MoviStar e-moción is the brand name for Telefonica's content services over GPRS. They now offer video streaming to their users.

The service is not video streaming. The offering is of a collection of short movies, with download times of up to three minutes. Mobile users will then store the video on the phone's memory, and play it offline. The player is Java based.

Currently the service is available for users of Nokia 7650 mobile phones, but they plan to have other models certified soon. The collection of around 20 videos will be enlarged to up to 100 or so. Each download costs EUR 1.

MoviStar also indicates they plan to include new categories like news, sports and music videos.
