Posted on 22-Feb-2010 15:21 | Tags Filed under: News

Alcatel-Lucent has announced the appointment of Jyoti Mahurkar-Thombre as head of its New Zealand operations, effective 8th March 2010. Jyoti, who will be based in New Zealand, will report to Rajeev Singh-Molares, president of Alcatel-Lucent in the Asia Pacific region.

Jyoti’s position was previously held by Steve Lowe, who has decided to leave the company. In the coming weeks, Steve and Jyoti will closely collaborate to smoothly transition the leadership role.

“Jyoti has more than 20 years telecommunications industry experience, and has driven next generation network rollouts for many of the largest and most progressive operators in the Asia Pacific region and around the world,” said Rajeev Singh-Molares. “She understands our customers’ priorities and we are looking forward to her personal contribution to serving our New Zealand customers.”

Jyoti was formerly the general manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s Next Generation Networks product unit. Prior to this role, Jyoti was vice president of Bell Labs, where she managed projects from initial concept to product release. Jyoti joined the company in 1988 where she held a variety of product management and research and development positions.

Jyoti received a Master of Science degree in engineering management, with a certificate in telecommunications, from Northwestern University in 2000.
