New products, new platform for MYOB

MYOB is launching its next generation accounting solutions – the realisation of a three-year, $75 million innovation strategy and part of a new vision for the company’s market-leading business management systems.

Today’s release includes the re-launch of the company's popular accounting software, MYOB AccountRight Standard and AccountRight Plus, on an entirely new platform, and the introduction of new software for the Mac: MYOB AccountEdge, which includes free apps for the iPad and iPhone.

MYOB general manager Julian Smith says, “The releases mark the first stage in the establishment of the new MYOB Business Platform, which aims to make cloud solutions more convenient, accessible, relevant and profitable for Kiwi businesses.”

Mr Smith said, “The MYOB solutions, including AccountRight Standard, AccountRight Plus, and AccountEdge, are part of our focus on combining the speed and function-rich capability of a desktop application with the connectivity and mobility of the internet. With more than one million SME customers, MYOB aims to provide a choice of accounting solutions that best suit their businesses.

Our approach is to bring the internet to the business user and the applications and devices they use – from the desk-top computer to the smart-phone and the tablet, making it possible for them to have access to essential business data and information, wherever they are – whether that’s working all day in a fast, feature-rich environment, or checking their financial position on the go.”

MYOB AccountRight Plus and AccountRight Standard have been fully redeveloped on the .NET SQL codebase, using an agile development methodology that will allow MYOB to continue to make rapid improvements as customers request them.

Julian Smith said, “Many of the latest enhancements in the products we are introducing today come directly from working with our network of accountants, business customers and third-party developers.

AccountRight Standard and AccountRight Plus include a range of new features designed to increase usability and help users become more productive, while giving them the flexibility to customise information and reports. In particular, many of the new features are designed to make life easier for business owners while making it possible for them to manage their business, their way.”

AccountRight Standard is designed to make it easy to manage inventory, sales and purchases, while simplifying GST calculations, and allowing users to quickly view a business’ financial position. In addition, AccountRight Plus offers full-featured payroll management and time billing capability.

“MYOB is also heralding a totally new way of working for Mac users, with today’s introduction of the latest MYOB AccountEdge,” said Julian Smith.

“The new MYOB AccountEdge is designed to operate the way our Mac users do – in highly mobile, flexible working environments, with a focus on accuracy, great presentation and effective business management.

The AccountEdge app is available free from the Apple AppStore, so you can take your business software out of the office and on the job. Designed to integrate seamlessly with your desktop, the new, easy-to-use apps for the iPhone and iPad open up a new way to run businesses.

AccountEdge keeps track of inventory, and provides payroll management and flexible invoicing. A multiple user edition, AccountEdge Network Edition, is also available for businesses requiring access to accounts for a number of staff.

Julian Smith says, “The AccountEdge app is a good example of the way MYOB has approached the next generation of cloud computing, bringing the internet to the device and allowing customers to choose the way they want to operate.

“As we roll out the MYOB Business Platform and cloud connectivity over the next 12 months, these solutions will offer more choice for business owners in how and where they work, whether it’s from their desktop, in an online environment, or from a mobile device. They will enable business owners to work more closely with their trusted advisors – accountants, banks and partners. And they will be designed to allow businesses to get the support they need as they grow or develop.

MYOB AccountRight Standard (NZ$549 inc GST), MYOB AccountRight Plus (NZ$849 inc GST) and MYOB AccountEdge (NZ$849 inc GST) are available from today.
