DOes anyone know if you can upload ringtones, pictures and java games via a datacable to the Hyundai TX115C? I have the standard software bundled with the datacable and it seems that you can only upload data. ANy help is appreciated!

Yes you can..

But there's quite a trick to it.. You can't actually add 'new' tones but you can 'replace' existing ones. And the technique involves something I don't think Telecom would like, thus I wont go into too much detail there.

And unless you're quite a whizz I wouldn't suggest you try it, as it is quite advanced.

It consists of:
1. Retrieving data from your phones filesystem.
2. Creating new data.
3. Modifying retrieved data. (hex/text editing, yay!)
4. Sending modified data back to your phone.

After searching around on the Internet for quite some time, I found how people started to upload tones with the 95c before any decent software was around.. At the time my TX115c cost me about $300 (lucky I bought two of them) and I knew full well that anything I did to it could cause it to become un-usable.. Or rather 'dead'.

On the plus side, it worked.. On both phones!

The same technique also worked with images/wallpapers, games, applications, etc..

And on the plus side, which I thought was pretty cool.. The TX115c can play MP3 files as ringtones.. However, the volume still isn't the best.

I find my Tx115c is very limited in features and capabilities. So I've reverted back to my vodafone nokia 6600, 512mb memory card, IR connection, plus data cable less than $20 on TradeMe, as opposed to Tx115c cable selling at $70. Nokia Pc Suite allows uploading of Java games, Symbian programs....like a TV, DVD, Stereo remote controller, animated screensavers. plus when surfing the Web, you can save images to phone, midi files, trutones...mp3's, these web features work on both my Vodafone Nokia 6600 & Alcatel 735. My crappy telecom Nokia 3205 & Hyundai Tx115c can't do that, but my 3205 can upload via Pc, java games, wallpapers and ringtones. I've noticed all Vodafone mobiles have better capabilities and features than Telecoms

Can't you do those with data cable? If not, what CAN you do with that? I'm considering to get one of those only to upload ringtones and stuff but if it can't go them..

And also, I've heard that they are going to release second edition of the programme so that you can really upload ringtones and screensavers. Anyone heard about it??

I got the data cable (for my TX115c) for $26.80, including shipping.. And it was new.

Since then I've pulled apart the inner workings of my phone, now I can put almost anything on it.

I am gutted that I bought it on impulse though, I didn't stop to think of IrDA, Blue-Tooth, etc..

And yeah, the web/wap browsing on Telecom phones is pretty crappy, can't save anything to the phone from the web.

If anyone here has a TX115c and a data-cable, and is interested in a few ring-tones, leave a message here and I might be able to put together a little tutorial on one of my days off.

However, in order to do this.. You should know a bit about your phone, hex editing and a medium level of geekiness.

It's basic.. Easy as copy/paste.. But it's not quite copy paste.

More like pressing your 'insert' key and typing at the start of a full line.

I'll work on it tomorrow if I can find the time.

Yes, that would be great if you could create a tutorial. Seems rather strange that you cant upload tones and games to a new phone. Would be interesting to find out if there is a version of the software coming out that will allow you to do this.

would be very interested. I have found a method for the audiovox 8900 (or Tx95c) but not brave enough to try it on my tx115c yet....

My suggestion is if you are interested in doing stuff to your phone then look for information on the audiovox 8910 as this is the american version of the tx115c....

Once I get my cable I'll post some sort of brief tutorial... unless someone bets me to it.

Would be interested to know if you can copy java apps (games) using any of these methods...

Downloading the software now.. Will let you know if it works or not.

I'm about half way through a tutorial at the moment.

But at the moment I can't figure out hpw to add 'new' tones, images, games, etc.. Only 'replace' existing ones.

There seems to be some kind of chucksum, or something, and if it's not there it doesn't work.. Or the phone never turns on again.

Tried that software ( http://global.mobileaction.com/en/download/download1.jsp?phoneBrand=19&modelID=238&go=+Go+ ) with no luck at all.. Couldn't even get the USB drivers installed, it just seemed to be looping through the same thing over and over.

The link I posted above is pretty close to the method that I use, if anyone else has a TX115c and cable, give it a try and let us know.. It worked for me, I'm just looking for some games now.
