I have an HP iPAQ 1910 and a TDK USB Bluetooth adapter. ActiveSync via the Bluetooth connection is working great.

Is there any way to enable automatic syncing? That is, right now I have to manually initiate the Bluetooth connection by going into the Bluetooth Manager on the iPAQ and double-clicking my connection shortcut.

I would like for this ActiveSync connection to be established automatically whenever my iPAQ comes in range.

Is this possible?

There's no automatic ActiveSync, and the reason for that is battery life. There was a thread here before where a developer explained that that feature would require the Pocket PC to be constantly polling devices to check for ActiveSync partnership.

There's a product ($) that should allow you to determine a schedule for this action, I'm not sure. Have a look in this site.

Hi

Similar problem - I have paired my SE P800 with my PC via an MSI dongle ok but it subsequently always requires a manual connection. Although the MSI PC s/w supposedly discovers and reports BT devices at set intervals I can't see that I can get the PC to make an automatic connection with my phone when it's in range?

Yep, that's normal behavior. The "Find" function is used to log Bluetooth devices in the vicinity, not to connect.

It would be a great functionality to have something like "If [device #] is close then [action]"...

Yes, this software uses the log entries created by your device periodic search to connect.

The problem is that will not work well with ActiveSync, because on Symbian devices the connection starts from a computer to the phone, while on Windows Mobile devices the connection starts from your Pocket PC or Smartphone to the computer.

We should have something like this on a Pocket PC. There's a software that will try ActiveSync over Bluetooth in pre-defined periods, but it's not based on device proximity. It'll try an ActiveSync, if nothing happens it will sleep again for a while. I guess this can go through the batteries pretty fast.
