I think I might have done everything wrong in trying to transfer to Bigpipe. It's probably all my fault, and I'm not sure of how to get out of this particular hole.

I was notified that "You'll be connected with Bigpipe on 17 May 2018", and that "We'll be in touch once the local fibre company in your area tells us your connection is complete. Sometimes this may be the day after, so don’t wait to hear from us to plug your router in :)"

At some stage, on the 17th I confidently rebooted my modem to see if I would get a new connection (and the static IP that I ordered). Alas, from then on I've had no internet connection and no confirmation from Bigpipe that the connection has been done.

I have sent support some emails to try and find out what the state of play is (i.e., how I stuffed things up), but I've heard nothing back.

Could it be that job is blocked by other work-orders at Chorus? I don't know.

I wonder what my best tack is now; wait and see, or do I need to be more proactive (and if so, how)?

I was with Skinny (for two or three days) before I realised how much of a problem CGNAT was for me and my situation, and before that Spark for years ...

In a week I've gone from Spark to Skinny to (half-way) with Bigpipe.

All were fibre.

Yes. I’ve tried two different makes. Both ‘connect’

One complains it can’t get a lease to renew the IP address.

Both manage, for example, to get the DNS addresses. But from the router I can’t ping the DNS or any known ip address outside my network.

Ye ha. I saw reset and disconnect requests come down the line

The connection reset. The internet connection is now up.

Life is good.

Thanks for all the help from everyone.
