Hi all,

Does anyone know what the Vodafone NZ SMS domain is? I am wanting to fwd gmail to my NZ cell but have yet to determine a valid suffix. e.g. 64211232456@vodafone.net.nz or similar.

http://www.googletutor.com/2005/03/25/gmail-to-your-phone/ has a list of US providers but I have yet to find anything for NZ.

sms.vodafone.net.nz is the domain. But your handset must be registered for the service and you may be charged for the standard SMS rate for each message delivered.

How would one regster for this? I have it setup to notify me by text if an email is sent to my @vodafone.net.nz email address however this no longer seems to work as the emails arrive in the vodafone.net.nz inbox but no text message is recieved.

Have you checked your notification settings adamj?

Log in to Vodafone Mail online, once in your inbox there is an option for Notifications on the left.

Then there will be add/edit/delete notifications
Vodafone Mobile Phone
Make sure "Notify via my Vodafone mobile phone" is ticked
Click "Notify me when emails arrive" to configure how you are notified by SMS

Once you click Vodafone Mobile Phone as well there is a button at the top to send a test TXT to your phone, do you receive these?

I was recieving them until a about 2 months ago so I logged in and check this very setting and it was ticked, and I did get the text message.

Just tried to log in now and it wants me to register again but says the address I was using is already in use. Rang vodafone CS who said it is active and attached to my account, however she didnt know why it would not work and had logged it with Solutions. Apparently it will be a while tho as they only have 2 staff at the moment (According to CS rep)

Ah I love Geekzone! I used this kind of service all the time when I was in the US, and didn't realise it existed on Vodafone.

How does one register for this?

If you just want the SMS e-mail address don't worry about the Vodafone e-mail account thing. This was discussed before here: SMS R to 901 to register for your address.

Each incoming alert 20 cents. (included SMS in a plan bundle will not be used)

Excellent, it's working fine.

If you have a text bundle, do messages sent this way get deducted from this allocation, or do you get billed 20 cents a message regardless?

Indeed. There are no time stamps here, so you wouldn't realise that we posted at virtually the same time. Your post came in just a little ahead of my question.

The original reference to the 20 cents was not explicit about text bundles as yours was.

Woops sorry, so there are! I'm blind and use screen reading software and skipped over the line before hearing the time at the end of it.

Back to the subject of the SMS gateway, it works very well although it would be nice if the incoming SMS had a bit of header infor such as the e-mail address at least.
