As the old thread was locked I thought I would start a new one regarding applications for Symbian 3rd Ed.

For starters I though I would just mention that Psiloc's Total irRemote is now out.

I got it yesterday evening, haven't had too much of a chance to muck around with it just yet but so far I can confirm that it works perfectly with our Sharp television, range is over 3m (haven't fully tested range, works from the couch so not much incentive to check further!). Worth mentioning that the specific code for our television wasn't there, even after a refresh, but simply selecting another Sharp TV yielded one that worked perfectly.

No codes for my Philips DVP 642 DVD player, but then a quick search on the net shows that Philips devices are often problematic as they use Discrete Codes, rather than the more common codes where the same code performs multiple functions depending on context. Will have a look today for some Philips-specfic codes and upload them if they are around. Shame on Psiloc for not uploading all the existing known codes though, they're basically getting their userbase to do some of their work for them (although in fairness to them this may have been a result of trying to get their product to market as demand was high, I guess I'd rather have it this way than wait longer).
