Hi - I will try to make this as brief as possible.
We live in Christchurch and have Sky digital, and every now and then we visit my wifes parents bach (near Ashburton) that has a Sky disc already set up. We usually take our decoder down, plug it in and away we go... However we recently moved house in Chch and the Sky man came out and he set it all up and got everything working.
We went to the bach over the weekend and took our decoder with us and it wouldn't work - kept on saying ' no signal - rain fade, due to atmospheric conditions....blah blah blah... your picture will resume shortly' and nothing happened. We know that the Disc works fine as the in-laws have that freeview box that gets chanels 1, 2, 3 & 4. (we did disconnect the freeview box to plug in the decoder) and they have not done anything to the disc. I suspect it might have something to do with the way the Sky decoder was set up at our new house. I was tempted tp play around with the advanced settings, but I didn't want to stuff it up completly. I don't really want to phone Sky, as they will want to know why I am taking the decoder 'off site'.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated!

LNB settings - change 10750 to 11300 at the bach, and change it back when you get home.

Thats works, we used to do that, you can also ask sky to do an upgrade on the Dish at your beach house

Its, free, you just request it and they come out and do it

Sky dont mind if you take the decoder, to another location, becuase you can only use it in one place at a time

As the others have said its the LNB oscillator frequency setting that needs adjusting. The current menu setup can be a bit confusing so here is how they should be set for each option. Note older single throat LNB's have an LO frequency of 11300MHz, the newer dual throat one with the oval (wide) radome have a 10750MHz LO frequency.

The first part of each line below is the Setup option shown on the blue banner at the very top of the screen, the second part after the arrow is the option to chose or enter.

Setting up a New Dual Throat LNB with an 10750MHz Local Oscillator (LO)

Select LNB Setup in the Advance Menu

LNB Power > ON

Set 22kHz Tone Use > Satellite/LNB Switching

Set Local Oscillator LowBand Frequency > 10750

Set Local Oscillator HighBand Frequency > 11800

Enable 22kHz Tone at Obital Position > 156 East -Optus D2

This should complete setup for 10750MHz LO dual throat LNBs.

Setting up an Older single throat LNB with 11300MHz Local Oscillator

Select LNB Setup in the Advance Menu

LNB Power > ON

Set 22kHz Tone Use > None

Set Local Oscillator Frequency > 11300

This should complete the setup for older 11300MHz LO LNB's

One further point, if you live in a MultiDwellingUnit (MDU) where you share a dish, you will most likely find that you are setup for 11300, however the LNB Power may be set to OFF. This would be quite normal. In that case you would need to ensure that the DC is set to OFF when you return to the MDU, however check its status to start with, and ensure its back as it was when returning to the MDU. 11300 is normally used for MDU's as the transponders sit lower in the LBand IF therefore there is a system loss advantage.

I will take note of those settings and try that next time we take the decoder to the bach.
My Inlaws are not Sky Subscribers, so I very much doubt that sky will come out and change the disc free of charge!
