What do you think the chances are that we get a simlar promotion here with the new Bravia V & W series?

I am waiting for the new KDL 46" W4000 to arrive in store but might wait a bit, would be gutted if simlar promotion started after I purchased it.

Have a ring around, as they should already be instores.

Also, Sony NZ are giving you a $200 cashback instead.

AFAIK, the 46 should be instores either this week, or early next. With the 52 not due until early August.

I hope they do this here as well, for people that buy from now onwards. Would really suck if they didnt give the promotion for early buyers (if they do it here).

Be careful with the 200 $ price reduction, it is in fact an offer of a 200 $ price reduction if you buy within 28 days a compatible set of equipment, e.g. a home theatre.
Has anyone tried to negotiate in individual shops, e.g. Noel Leeming and an idea what can be achieved by that?

I think they did this back at christmas time as well. My mate moved back to melbourne and scored a PS3 when his father in law bought a Sony LCD telly. Pretty good bonus$ when you consider that you still negotiate the price at the shop and the PS3 is supplied separately by Sony and the PS3 is a great DVD/Bluray/entertainment centre.

Its a pity over here we get a crappy dvd player etc etc

Imailed Sony today, probably will get the standard reply and get pointed out that they offer a 200$ rebate if I buy more Sony stuff, something I am not going to do.
What would be in it in individual dealing in the shop? 10% ?
I am also looking at the Viera mdels, very nice picture too !

Cheers

Sony evidently prefers its Aussie customers, as shows from their email I received today:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting Sony NZ.

The Australian promotionof the free PS3 if for Sony Australia only as Sony Australia’s marketing decided to have that spacific promotion.  We had a similar promotion last year but since the Intergrated Digital tuner Sony Bravias have just been released in New Zealand we aren’t looking at having the same promotion any time soon.

I hope this helps resolve your query. If not, or more information is required, please contact us on 0800 SONY NZ (0800 766 969).

Kind regards,

The Team @ Sony

thanks ExDee, that makes me even more convinced to wait a little more and not be an early adopter of the Bravia V and W series. thinking about it, they all will very soon come with freeview tuners built in and I like the Panasonics just as well.

Cheers

Have some exact wording:
"There are currently no plans to run a PlayStation and BRAVIA promotion in New Zealand. However, we cannot rule out a similar promotion in the future."

Guess  that will happen when,

1. The econoy goes down the toilet and sales slow.

2. The new 80Gig PS3s come out at the  same or lower price than the existing 40Gig models and the can't get rid of the old ones..

Sounds like a similar replay to what some of our guys here at work got when they asked Sony early June when sets with DTT tuners were coming out.  They said " Not before Xmas"  so they bought 40v300 and 3 weeks later the 40V4000 comes out..
