I have a DVD HDD recorder... i can record anything, and put anything on my ipod, but its a multi step process, and not worth the effort.

I would love to be able to watch selected TV shows on my iPod, to watch at my leisure. Ad supported, or a reasonable subscription model would float with me.

Its the ease of use that counts (I want to set up a subscription, and have everything delivered in the correct format automatically...)

Thoughts?

it depends on what you mean by "NZ TV" if its localy made content then your out of luck unless TVNZ and the rest of them want to provide the content.

For overseas produced content - ipod versions of most popular programs are available well in advance of there NZ showing via bittorrent networks. You may even find a local torrent tracker with local shows as well altough these are usually by invite only.

I haven't been to BBC yet, but wasn't their plan to make the programs available for download? Would that be limited to the UK only?

Many BBC radio shows are available for audio podcast but they haven't started video podcasting yet. They are normally pretty quick on the uptake with this sort of thing so I'm sure it's not far away. They might follow the lead of ABC in the US who charge a nominal US$1.99 to download episodes of LOST & Desperate Housewives.

Regarding the technical question at the top though, I've no idea I'm afraid!
