I'm on the Business Advanced plan, logged into the usage meter this morning to see that my 60gb cap is now 120gb...

Anyone else had this happen? Another mate on the same plan had the same thing. What's the story? This going to be permanent or just a promo?

*EDIT*

Sem Fail:

As your total data use reported by the broadband usage meter will continue to be incorrect until around 19 January, when all the information will be fully refreshed, we have doubled the data allowance for all impacted plans until we are sure that all the information in the broadband usage meter is 100% correct.

Guess the leech is on until the 19th, then back to normal.

What if you go leeching because of this double cap, but the final results show you used more than your plan allows?

No, I don't think people should go leeching. It's like an overdraft I'd say...

Don't know about that.  Our 60G /month business plan at work today shows 122Gig to be used by  Jan 12th.  Considering we close from the 24th to Jan 11th T/com are pretty safe in giving us the extra downloads

My understanding is that it was fixed from around the 19th of Dec,  but because of billing cycles starting and ending on different days a user could find that their usage is incorrect if their cycle starts on the 18th of Dec and finishes on 18th Jan.  Therefore,  the meter will not be 100% correct for everybody until 19th Jan.

To clarify, freitasm pretty much hit the nail it is like a temporary overdraft, heres the direct information from the Telecom site with regards to your cap and the usage meter:

Last week we identified a technical issue with the Broadband Usage Meter that affected the way internet data use was being reported.  On Thursday 17 December we were able to correct the way we calculate and treat data usage.   However, we are unable to remove any incorrect data from the usage meter.   This means that your total data use reported by the broadband usage meter will continue to be incorrect until around 19 January.  Your daily data use from 17 December will be reported correctly.

As your total data use reported by the broadband usage meter will continue to be incorrect until around 19 January, when all the information will be fully refreshed, we have doubled the data allowance for all impacted plans until we are sure that all the information in the broadband usage meter is 100% correct.

We will of course ensure no impacted customer is out of pocket and will be contacting any affected customer with details.

We apologise for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused you.

Feel free to directly message me if you should have any queries regarding your individual account and I'll do my best to answer.

Hey, OK this is a good explanation from Doozy then.

I wanted to upload a bunch of stuff to flickr (~20gig). But, i wasn't totally sure if this would affect my cap.

But, knowing now that the 'usage' is being correctly counted since 17th dec then I can safely do this.

It just takes until 19th Jan to clear out historical traces of the error.

THanks.

Interesting that our cap now represents a level that is twice anything that they actually offer, Jan 19th is also after our traffic rolls over next. Doubling it really is like a carrot to the donkey!

And wreck90 - Uploading is still free AFAIK, so you can go for broke.

My Business Advanced rolls over tomorrow night so will advise. I've been zero rated both up and down since 18/12 and was downloading 20GB/day at one stage hoping I won't be charged.

We're on the Pro plan at home, new month began on 7th Jan and we've got another 80GB limit instead of the normal 40GB.

Good times!
