Hey Folks

Changed from Snap to Telecom and the connection speed has dramatically dropped. It seems I'm stuck on an ADSL1 profile maybe?

I'm on a upgraded cabinet and have been for some time and normally synch at around 20,000 kbs. Nothing's changed so wondering why the drop in speed when all I have done is change providers.?

Current modem stats below from a DSL-502T (Down/Up)

SNR Margin 31,12dB
Line Attenuation 6,2dB
Data Rate 7547, 999kbps

?alled the Telecom helpdesk and I mentioned my issue but I dont think this query is in the bounds of a normal query and they couldnt really understand what I meant. I am waiting for the free wireless modem to arrive also

It seems you've been switched to an ADSL1 Profile. Call telecom and ask them to fix your line profile.

If you are getting no where with the outsourced 1st level CSR's try the online contact us form here:

http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/ask

I've had speedy responses in the past, also you can attach useful info like a screenshot of the line status showing the sync speed and line attenuation.

From my experience a ticket will get lodged in their system and someone with decent knowledge will get back to you.  A low sync speed when you have good line stats otherwise will be obvious to more tech's.

Also... that model is known for not handling ADSL2+ properly.  It's possible your line was moved from terminating on one set of equipment to another and there is a compatibility issue between the modem and the ISAM/DSLAM that your line is connected too.

You didn't get a free new modem when switching to Telecom?  I guess you didn't want to be tied into longer contract term?
