Being a user of many forums on the net (an have 2 of my own i manage)
I like to set "mark all topics read" when leaving a forum.

But i cant find it here on Geekzone, and very confusing seeing every single topic as new?
Am i missing an obvious button somehwhere? lol

I don't think you can 'mark' them as not new.

I actually use RSSOwl, a great RSS reader. You can see RSS feeds everywhere nowadays.

Most RSS readers have a 'mark as read' function, which should satisfy the need.

Find me on Twitter!

I posted 1, 2 x 10^3 times!

We don't have "Mark All Read" option but you will see the "NEW" icon only on new items (blogs, news, forums) that were posted since the date/time of your previous visit.

If you are like me and never logout from Geekzone you might see "NEW" a lot of the time. But if your session ends or your close your browser and login again then it will be automatically detected.

I am not sure about this automatically detected. There are times when I accidentally click logout and when I log back in (within 30secs) all of the 'new' tags are still there. However it will sometimes do as you say and it will remove all of the tags. I am not sure if the server requires you to be logged out for a minimum amount of time?
But just a logout and login for me does not work.

It's the date/time since the previous login - not logout. So if anyone posted anything since your previous login it will show as "NEW".

A late update: we have now added the option to mark all posts and topics on Geekzone pages as read. Look for more information here.

Is it possible to have a link to jump to the first new post in a thread? For example, there is a new post in a multipage topic but its the second to last page, and the last item on the page, I have to click on the last page first, see that all the posts on it are "new", then go to the previous page and check that there are no "new" posts there... all to see that I'm reading the latest and newest posts.

For example, on the Invasion boards this is a piece of cake... maybe borrow code of an IPB?

Cheers
David
