This looks very reasonable.

Same features as the 1GB plan (in terms of conditions, etc?)

Very reasonable. I'm on the 200MB plan myself (not with Vodafone though) but find it very reasonable rates.

Before the trolls step in and try and flame this, remember:

Its mobile broadband unlike fixed or 'wireless' (which is restricted to certain areas) -ie. you can use it in most places in the country.
You don't need a PSTN line for this (so no ~$40 charge), and you don't need a voiceplan.

I too am on 200MB on my everyday SIM card, and still am on $49 for 1GB for my data card (with TCL). Which I find are more than enough for mobile internet usage.

3GB is certainly a big welcome, and if the T&C is the same as 200MB and 1GB then for $10 extra you get total of 6GB! That's only $90 for mobile broadband internet for 6GB!

Internet is my backyard...

With VoIP over 3G now very usable a plan like this could offer a real alternative to a POTS voice line if you want to invest in a 3G router. I know Vodafone's T&C's exclude VoIP traffic but there is no way for them to stop it.

Yes, I was going to ask - is the $10 extra for 100% capacity valid for this new plan? If so then it's really great news.

I'd be interested in the answer to this too. I'm currently nine months into a 24 month contract and I'm hoping that I can take up this new plan for the remaining term of my contract rather than having to re-sign for another 24 months and potentially pay an early termination fee.

I think to be truly customer focused, Vodafone NZ should offer the existing 1GB+ customers the options to upgrade to 3GB plan without penalty, I mean, ultimately they're the continuing customers. If forced to terminate the existing contract and resign to the new 3GB, I can see the customers be rather change to another service provider.

So if Vodafone NZ is smart enough to retain their customers... they better be wise with the offering! In today's business, take care of your customers and the customers will take care of your business...

The other thought that occurred to me is that this may just be a secondary top-up option. In other words, there is no 3Gb plan as such, but those who are on the 1Gb plan can top up to 2Gb for an extra $10 a month (as per the status quo) or top up to 3Gb for an extra $20 a month.

Hopefully John can clarify this.
