****(((( Fix 1 FIX that firmware! (Highly reccommended to do both however) ))))****
While still connected to woosh as per normal over your PC,
visit
http://www.woosh.com/modemupgrade.aspx
and download to desktop or somewhere else
ftp://ftp.woosh.co.nz/ipwfirmware-1.0.24-5.2.1.16a.exe
and allow it to finish
(skip 1-7 if using ethernet or if you have a hyperthreading machine where you must use ethernet.)
1. Haul out the USB cable.
2. Plug it in to the PC *** do not plug it into the modem yet ***
3. apply mains power
4. turn modem on and and ensure battery is in the back.
5. Insert CD
6. plug modem into USB cable and the "add new hardware wizard" will come up
7. Allow Windows XP to search removable CD for driver and it will find it and install.
**** If using ethernet only~~~! ****
Connect blue and green RJ-45 network plugs to the little white connector instead of doing the above.
Run the "ipwfirmware" tool you downloaded before and let it finish fully.
****(((( Fix 2, Getting the least signal degradation. (Highly reccommended to do both however) ))))****
Now locate the application on the CD called UEstatus.exe and run it from CD, it won't work properly but will work enough for you to see signal.
the strength and quality must be consistently in the green, any red patches and you need to reposition the modem or get a booster antenna.
