Can anyone tell me what the "unset" (as opposed to blank, CVD, TAK or something like WN-CPC) means in the collum Fibre Feeder Host Exchange

CU/BB 2458899 5758430 Whisper Cabinet (Double Bay) CU unset CU/BB 1/06/2010

in this document

www.chorus.co.nz/file/3194/existing_distribution_cabinet_list_may_2012.xlsx

Is there any schedule for the upgrade of this much overloaded cabinet?

i looked this up the other night but forgot to post..

looked a little confusing for the state i was in and forgot to check back in the morning to see if it was any more clear...

cabinet looks like a lone non RBI marked congested node unfortunately...

Ild say a chorus fellow will give better information, or ill visit it in the morning hopefully for ya!

Looks like a Chorus ASAM (Alcatel 7300) thankfully not a Conklin and isn't due to be upgraded under RBI I'm sorry to say.

Thanks

Is the overloading of this cabinet recorded in the system somewhere - are the complaints and faults that have been logged with it got to the right place and the right people?

Do you know how many ADSL connections it has hosted off it and what uplink speed it has?  Is there any way for the uplink connections to be upgraded (or more added) without complete replacement of the Alcatel 7300?

Where does it uplink back to? Cust Exchange?

I daresay it would be recorded somewhere, but if you're wanting faster broadband you may need to look at a different option.

What does Chorus's map say you can get?

On the money, I'd say.

Unset or blank just means that the hardware in there isn't fed from a fiber, but rather an older copper feed (generally PCM, which is a bunch of 2Mbit links, much like a Conklin). Essentially it's a bit meatier, but not a helluvalot.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Not sure why its recorded as 'unset' but CU/BB was hosted off RR(Rangiora) in 2012 - not sure if it still is but I would assume so.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Can anyone see how many 2mbit links in the bunch (if thats what the connection is?) and how many DSL connections this serves?

Might just be a record error after all then?

I know how many spark customers are hanging off it and it's less than 100. But really with the way things are going with copper pricing from the comcom it looks extremely unlikely. In my personal opinion that anything is going to happen with those rural cabinets until the hardware really starts failing. Then people may just end up with no broadband at all as it's not financially worth it to fix.

Knowing all this will add 0 value and will not speed up any upgrades to the hardware, Chorus are getting screwed over

Well it's just my personal guess. But when you can't purchase the gear anymore. What is left to do?? Again my personal opinion, may be wrong, may not be. I suspect it will take at least 3-4 years to really start being an issue.

Time well tell really.

They kept a stock of ASAMs from the urban exchange migrations to ISAM in 2006/2007.
