Hi,

I got a special invitation in the mail this week from Orcon saying our address had been unbundled and we could sign up for their Orcon+ network. On browsing the Orcon site they state we have not been unbundled. A call to Orcon was fruitless. The CSA said he would have to contact the provisioning team this week and get back to me.

Does anyone know if Pukekohe Exchange has been unbundled?

Cheers,

Matt.

Whatever you do, don't post your address here as I believe the two previous posters are very local to you and will probably come to your house, drink all your beer, break all your furniture and never leave.

Trust me on this one.

Hopefully Newsham Park is vague enough.... The beer is all warm at the moment so it is probably safe. Currently on Wired Country to Puke hill (another location clue!) and VFX which has been great. I find I am using a fair amount of data with my business now so was thinking of changing at some stage also for a speed increase...

You'll be a decent distance from the Exchange up there so may not see the best performance but the lines will all be nice and new so they should counter some of that . . .

Beer's chilling. There will be enough for 2 each - That should be enough for a fireman! Laughing
Scott, is the exchange right in town? I never managed to find out where it was. My father-in-law is also in Newsham Park probably another 800m  up the hill and from memory he gets about 3 Mbps down on XTRA.
Cheers, Matt.

Yeah behind the Post Office building opposite ASB Bank in Hall Street - right under the Telcom Mobile cellular tower.

2 beers enough . . . yeah right ;-)

I to am in pukekohe and have put my phone number in on the Orcon site and I am within adsl2 with orcon , at the moment I am with Telecom for broadband, I would like to know, is it possible to keep telecom and try out orcon , possibly the plan with no phone line? and if they are what I need , then switch to a better plan?

Thanks
Chaplin

Unfortunately, the plan with no phone line (Purple+) means exactly that - you will get no phone service. The product is Naked DSL, which means you only get broadband access through the phone line.

All of Orcon's Orcon+ plans require both your phone and broadband to be with them (except Purple+ as I explained above)

I live in Pukekohe too, and the Orcon site also says that I have ADSL2+ available in my area.  However when I go to the telecom website (http://www.telecom.co.nz/broadband/speed/adsl2) to check whether ADSL2+ is available in my area it says "This address is near an exchange which is scheduled to be upgraded with ADSL2+ technology in approximately Jun 2009".

I would check to make sure whether ADSL2+ is definately available from your exchange before signing up to anything.

This means you can get ADSL2+ from Orcon not from Telecom NZ at this point

Orcon have put there own hardware into Pukekohe

John,

Any idea if Vodafone will red zone Pukekohe? Will bribe you with a beer if required!

Cheers,

Matt.

Unfortunately our new Red Zone services are currently not available in your area and won't be for the foreseeable future.
