I wanted to know if I could connect a cable between my GPRS motorola V3 Razr and my IPAQ 3850 for emailing and stuff. Please give me some guidance!

Oh, I dont think my V3 has infared. I may be able to get a nokia that does. How would I go about this?

Also, i think you can do this through bluetooth. How can I tell if the IPAQ has Bluetooth?

My V3 also has GPRS.

I think only the h3950/h3970 had Bluetooth, not the h38xx series...

Just create a new connection, selecting the IR as the modem. Point the IR port to the phone and it should just work.

Make sure to use the number *99# (or *99***1# for the default). Also you will need to check that you can actually connect to GPRS/3G from your account. And since the h3850 runs on Pocket PC OS 2002 (if not updated) you need to check the settings to not use Location Dial to prevent the device inserting area code when dialing out.

I know for a fact my GPRS works. I may have to go find a Nokia just for the internet.

WIll it be dialing or using GPRS when I put *99# as the phone #?

H387x has bluetooth. not H385x.

Alternatively is to use ipaq cf sleeve or pcmcia sleeve and use CF Bluetooth, but be sure it comes with bluetooth stacks for PPC2002 or WM2003 upgrade.




Internet is my backyard...

The *99# is a special number that connects to the packet switched network (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA).

Username and password will depend on each mobile operator. Vodafone New Zealand does not have these, but all U.S. operator (T-Mobile, AT&T/Cingular, Sprint, Verizon) will have.

Getting closer! The phone is dialing, but the number its dialing is 0100*99#

Any idea? It must be a setting in the PDA?

Check my previous posting - you have to manage the Dialing locations and make sure it is not automaticaly entering country and area code.

Usually the Pocket Internet Explorer does a good job. You might want to try Access Netfront or Opera. But they are not free and use memory on a device with limited RAM already.
