does anyone here have any troubles running GTA4 with a Sapphire 4870 512MB graphics card. when i fire it up it seems a little chunky. in the game i run the benchmark tool and use the recomended settings with no luck. when playing it seems a bit out of sync and the shadows are a bit patchy....

does anyone here have the same problem? ive got the latest driver (8.12) installed. and have updated via the windows live updates.

GTA4 PC is an unoptimized peice of rubbish tbh. it doesn't really run well on anything, people with high end quad cores and a 4870X2 are still only making 40fps it seems.

Yeah, i was looking forward to it also and was going to get it pretty cheap too, but then i found out that my e8500 + 4850 probably won't even play it that well, let alone the 9600GT on the other PC for lan play.

Word. Its junk. I've got a 1gb 4870 and it still runs bad.

With everything on max, apples to apples, it doesn't look as good as Crysis, and doesn't run as smoothly.

And there is NO AA support. Can't even force it. Yuck.

nVidia people don't seem to have so much of a problem. Obviously a 'Way its meant to be P(l)ayed' game....

When playing cyrsis on my 4870 it looks stunning, then i go and play GTA4 and it just looks wrong. that is really sad that it doesnt work properly, there must be a few PC gamers furious with that.

I have a Sapphire 4870 512MB, runs fine on my system, the framerate drops a little in places but reviews of the console version said the same thing, overall I am pretty pleased with how it runs, great game, lack of AA doesn't hbother me too much, run the game at 1600x1200 on a CRT monitor.

System specs:
Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz (watercooled)
Asus Maximus II Formula
8GB Corsair Dominator @ 1066Mhz
4870 @ 780Mhz core 1090Mhz mem (watercooled)

Ive also so been waiting ages for GTA VI......

I played it with my Phenom 9500 with a HD 3850 all at standard settings.
It was nice but the graphics werent that sharp and the distance was only mediocre.

I have now purchased a HD 4870 and at standard settings performs worse than the 3850?....
Like the topic suggests CHUNKY GAME PLAY it plays in slow frames and refresh's slower and is more noticable.

Ive tried a FX-62 and no change......

Is there something wrong with the compatibility between the 2.....

Was expecting a much better experience after upgrading the GPU...To my dissapointment?

Any set-ups anyones using with awesome results?

A handful of people have managed to get it working perfectly like a normal game, a select few using nvidia cards it seems, from reading the steam forums. Everyone elses seems to run like crap.
We got it recently, it plays average on our HD4850, on medium-high, but the graphics seem to be only a step above say UT2004.
The 9600M GT in the laptop plays it at 15fps at low resolution on all low settings. Epic Fail.

Btw catalyst 9.1 is out but apparently no improvements.
