Have Updated the Regions as well as added the Number Block for Each Region, these are the current assignments for the Residential service.

Mods, I can not get rid of all the blanks from the first post, any chance someone can do this fro me, I can make a Telecom Network run but struggle with the whole cut and paste thing

The area codes don't look correct.

eg Plumbers in Nelson

I presume Nelson is ok cos it says active and area number used is an internal Telecom thing?

These are correct, they are WxC number ranges the ones you listed are Telecom Number ranges and are totally different to our ones so thats why they will look strange to you,

OK so the numbers for Gore and Invercargill appear to be the same. I am based in Gore so if my neighbour calls me will it be a local call for him and vice versa?

I guess I am wondering if Wxc has access to the Gore exchange or is it done from Invercargill?

I have signed up today but want to get my existing numer ported over and want things to remain the same with local calling etc.

It will be a local call for your neighbour to call you. The phone numbers don't decide whether a call is a local call or a toll call as the number ranges you associate with being "local" are Telecom assigned number ranges, many other telcos including TelstraClear, CallPlus, Woosh and Vodafone to name a few already have local numbers but these will all be different to the numbers you're used to. What is important however is whether these numbers are in the same LCA (local calling area)

In the Gore LCA Telecom have

03	201	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	202	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	203	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	204	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	205	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	207	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	208	Telecom	Assigned	Gore
03	209	Telecom	Assigned	Gore

Whereas WxC have the 03 748xxxx range which is still in the LCA so is a local call.

It can make things slightly confusing for people however WxC can't allocate you a number in the 201-209 range as these have numbers are allocated by Telecom. Obviously if you port you number you can keep your Telecom number or you can sign up with Telecom and get a CustomerLink number and port this if you're wanting a number in the Telecom range to avoid any potential confusion.
