This is an update on Asterisk support with the VFX / DVX Network.

The Good News
We are not far away from offering Commercial Support for our Dealer Channel on Asterisk, we have been running trials for a while and are not to far away from being able to offer this for commercial services only, at this point things to note there will be a minimum of 30 users required (equivalent E1) however this is under review and may be reduced to Min 10 DDI's 5 concurrent calls, there will be a couple of test requirements before live deployment of any box, this will be a Straight Virtual SIP Interconnect no VFX / IP Centrex services. Will also require a static IP address and a commercial grade IP Connection,

For more detailed information or if you have any questions on this please feel free to PM me with your details or post here for general questions and answers.

The other News
Firstly there is some progress on VFX Side for Asterisk deployment but we have an issue that I am holding development up on until it can be resolved, the issue requires a bit of work and changes to other parts of network before we can progress any further,  however there is progress so that’s the good news not as fast as we like but that’s the nature of Open Source I’m afraid.

It may be a bit early to talk about it but do you have any sort of price points in mind for business users who want to use Asterisk for only a few lines? What sort of price will people pay for access and things such as local calls?

I think 30 lines may be overkill for my home! :-)

A Man can never have to many phones, Ask my Wife.

Pricing will be the same as our DVX Business product with the SPA9000  /Equip Quadro devices we have which is bascially a SIP Trunk service with addiational IP Centrex service addons.  cost's about $20 per concurrent call for the Trunk usage , approx $10 per DDI line I think...don't quote me though :)

$20 per pilot and $10 for each stepper? Also, what do you define as a commercial grade IP service?

I think you need SDSL, which is meant to have guaranteed upload/download speeds etc.
Who supplies it - dunno
Can you get on any ADSL exchange - dunno
How much - dunno
Any special DSL router required - dunno
Would I like to know the answers to above - yes
