Arghhh... Something happened yesterday, because both the router and the PAP2T boxes at my parents-in-law stopped working. I managed to get the Internet service back by asking them to unplug the power cord on the router, but the PAP2T is in a strange state: LINE1 (VFX) says "Can't connect to login server", while LINE2 (Mynetfone) is OK.

Called WorldxChange now and they asked me to do a factory reset - impossible since I am in Auckland, which means at least another 24 hours without a "landline" for them.

Parents-in-law are obviously not amused with this "VoIP" thing now - and obviously still needs a geek to have things fixed. They think the POTS was much better - if anything was wrong just call Telecom and let them do it...

I've encounted our PAP2T doing this after a router / network disconnect (but not always).

It use to do it everytime the IP changed or the router was rebooted, but setting the PAP2T to use a fixed local IP and WxC's DNS address's rather than using DHCP resolved 90% of the occurances.

This is how I get the PAP2T to connect again when it occurs (fairly rare) - unplug the PAP2T while the router is rebooted, and plug it back in once the router is fully on-line... Bit of a pain when you're not home though and calls start coming through to my cell (unreachable number).

NB. How did you get line 2 unlocked?   I've asked but not gotten anywhere...

Great tip. I've changed the configuration to use a static IP address, the unit reset itself and it's now registered - gotta love remote access...

AFAIK Line 2 wasn't blocked - certainly not on this PAP2T and not in my unit either.

Now to provide some comfort so they don't go around thinking of ditching VoIP...

Wow - coincidence, one of my PAP2T's was stuck with "Can't connect to login server" yesterday too, but it was connecting to 2talk. I had to leave it unplugged for 5 minutes and it came right (a quick unplug/replug didn't seem to fix it).

I've got similar issues with my RTA1320 modem and my WRTP54G router/VFX, however I loose all connectivity. Rebooting one does not solve it, I have to reboot the modem so it will allow assigning a new IP address to the same MAC (think that's the problem), and then reboot the WRTP so it will request a new IP address. Just too lazy to setup statics, which should solve the problem permanently.

Used to have the same no reconnection issue following a router reboot etc and can confirm that setting a fixed local IP address also pretty well eliminated reconnection issues with the PAP2T in my setup too.

When I was using VFX, I simply asked them to unlock line2, which they did without a problem.

I have recently signed up for a new VoIP and broadbanc accoun t at WxC, and since the switchover my phone has not been working at all - I have not been able to make or receive calls for nearly two weeks now, the documentation I received to set up my phone is confusing and contradictory (eg I got an email from the company to enter a link somewhere but have not been able a place in the setup menu that looks remotely like what they say) and of course, since my phone doesn't work, I haven't been able to call their "customer support" if such a thing indeed exists (I get the feeling it doesn't).

I have sent them an email on Monday asking for detailed instructions about setting up my phoneline, and have had no reply yet. This was after being without phone for a week, and I have an important job application pending and am generally in the process of setting myself up in business.

Needless to say, I think this is completely unacceptable and wish I had stayed with Telecom. I would definitely NOT recommend that "service" to anyone!!

Can anyone here help and point me to a place where I can find detailed and comprehendable set-up instructions? I have been searching both on the Linksys site (my router is an AG310) and on the WxC site and have found nothing of the sort yet.

Much appreciated.

Page 35 of the ATA Administration Guide at the address below tells you where to set up the provisioning of the device. You should be able to put in the provisioning link WxC provided you in there and it all should work.

I don't think the device is officially supported by WxC though, and searching through the forums, it seems that the AG310 has two MAC addresses, 1 for the router part and one for the VOIP part. You will need to make sure WxC has the right (VOIP I presume) MAC address.

Ah. That would explain it I suppose. There's a sticker on the back stating only one MAC address though, any idea how I can find out the other one?
