Hey i compared my iphone to my friends to see if he had the same problem as me which he doesnt.
I have noticed 3 small lines inbetween the volume key and silver bezel. They are very small and you cannot see it with a camera, They are 3 small lines which I thaught could be the way the plastic was made.

What should I do, can i exchange it?? i baught it on launch day
Or should I leave it as they are so minute the sales guy could just laugh at me???

I've got the White 16GB one and haven't got this problem with cracking, nor the problem with the difficult silent button...

Take it back and see what they say

My silent button is nowhere near as easy to use as on the oldschool iPhone.
It's my only problem!

They've sent it to apple as there was definately a problem with the silent button being stiff. They have also mentioned the cracks on the side.

I was shocked to see one of the two display models had at-least 20 cracks going down the side of the volume key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If mine comes back with one crack i'll tell them to send it away again lol, its my hard earned money.!!!!!

For other iphone users you must check this: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=525177

(seems week 27 and 29 of production are containing most cracks, mine was week 27!!!!)

Yes I belong to an apple-Iphone yahoo group and there were quite a few reports of the cracking situation on there as well

On the determination of week of production, is it possible to have a Week28 that was purchased prior to Jul14, as someone reported.
My white is XX827 and so far no cracks.

They didnt replace it they said no cracks were visible. I was really pissed as the sales rep could see them. Ive got an invisible shield on it anyway and compared to many iphones ive seen on display the cracks on mine are very minor.

I have the same issue with my black 8GB. If you get it in the right light, you can make out the stress microfractures between the volume buttons and the chrome surround - hard to see, but definately there. As far as I can tell they have been there from new.

I can't brain today. I have the dumb.
