Hi.. I have been up all night fooling with this Actiontec adapter, and my PDA. (iPaq 1945h)
I finally got connected to the BT adapted with my PDA, and granted "Network Access" I thought I was just going to open IE and start googling or w/e right then, of course as life is not that easy.. neither is this BT stuff. After messing with it some more I still can't seem to use the Inet at all on my PDA. I read the "things to check if network access isnt letting you use inet" article found somewhere within this fine site.. But I was lost on a couple of things about the ICS, and IPs.. I an not too familiar with ICS, I tried to enable it though, but once I did, it removed my ISP's IP settings and put up the one's it was going to use, from there I had no idea what to do, so I just set everything back to normal to get on the net once again to do more searching of answers.. So of course, I am pretty much stuck on how to correctly setup this ICS or w/e to get my PDA on the inet using my Actiontec Bluetooth device(USB) and would absolutely LOVE some help if anyone here is willing to pass some out. : )

How are you connected? ADSL, Cable? What OS? Does your ISP hand an address to your modem, do you have a router? More info is better...

Yea.. Guess I should have given more info, sorry, it was really early in the am.
My PC is running Windows 2000 Server(SP4), and PDA is PPC2003 I get my IP from DHCP from my ISP, no firewalls, routers, switches, hubs or anything of that nature. Hope this is better?

There's a bug in Windows 2000 and sometimes when you activate ICS it enters the 192.168.0.1 IP address on the from side of the configuration.

You should check this and have the following configuration:

  • The adapter connecting to the internet should have the settings set by the DHCP server.
  • The Bluetooth adapter on your computer should have 192.168.0.1 and the DNS addresses manually entered.
  • On the adapter connecting to the Internet you enable ICS to your Bluetooth adapter.

Before going ahead check that Windows hasn't changed the adapter connected to the internet to have 192.168.0.1. If it did, then change back to Obtain an IP Address Automatically.

You should be ok to go now.

Seems like it may work for him, and the main thing was auto settings. What if you cannot use auto settings? The way my network is setup and some of the tools I use, I need static IP's and DNS.
I use 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.6 for the 5 comps connected to this network. I need these numbers to identify each computer for other remote admin programs.
I manually entered the 192.168.0.1 IP for my palm. Does the rest of my network have to have the 192.168.0 for the beggining of the ip address? If so, I may not be able to connct at all? Is this what I am gathering? My router is 192.168.1.1 and I do not think I can change that.
