Hey there,

Can somebody help,

2yrs ago Ihug 2mbit/128kb plan getting 200-300kb constant and 1000kb bursts...Yeah!!!
1yr ago changed to Slingshot 256k/128k plan always got constant 20- 30kb downloading...
Last 4 months on Slingshot full/128kb plan 'full speed' getting upto 33kbs but not constant getting 8kb a lot and
lately a lot of disconnections frim internet, till now geting half a day averaging 20kb and throttle to
dialup speeds constantly....Ardhhhhh.....

My problem is I find I'm paying more for a service and getting less for what I paid for which is
getting to the stage where I may as well buy kiwionline dialup and get better speeds....Cough....

Nothing has changed with my wiring etc, only upgraded computer as usual same dlink 504t modem,
Slingshot says its my wiring or modem but nothing different or changed...Doh.....

My last reading on my modem is.....
Item                Downstream      Upstream      Unit
SNR Margin             11                  35            dB
Line Attenuation        48                  31            db
Data Rate                365                165           kbps

I feel like my connection is constantly getting throttled and Slingshot says its congestion, I live
in Mt Roskill and my service used to be good but getting worse. I want to change to Snap Broadband
as I've heard its better but want your advice...The internet is like my life due to disability find I'm getting
nowhere with customer service.....

Please help and sorry about long speech but I find more and more people are getting similar problems on forums, but
our providers are mirroring it back to us... IE is it your wiring modem etc....Mate everthing the same but I got a faster
computer could it be my dual processor slowing it....joke...

Cheers....
....

Your modems data rate looks very odd... something wrong with your line i guess... or exchange.

normaly on adsl1 you should get upto 4mbit modems sync speed.

i suggest you either perform reboot modem, line check, call support to check connection at exchange.

You're getting poor speeds but to what... local servers, australian servers, US servers?

Also I notice your sync rate seems very low for the line stats, I live in Mt Roskill also and have a similar noise margin and attenuation but I sync with the exchange at 4mbit rather than 365kbit.  It does seem likely to be a line, filter, modem or exchange problem to me...

My Line Stats:

I would ring the Slingshot helpdesk go through all their normal steps.  After that bollocks is out the way ask for them to request telecom do a port reset for your line and/or ask for a technition to come and asses your line.  If there is a fault with the line and you are still using a telecom land line there is no charge for it to be fixed normally.
