Is it just me or is Orcon+ international traffic this evening running like a 2 legged, blind horse called lucky ?

Torrents timing out, browsing taking forever to respond, even my email from my domain is taking forever........

Noticed mine is really slow tonight as well. Though I did clear out my temp files the other day and could also play a part..

This is getting plain stupid now.... my speed has come back for intl sites but for the past 2 days, Ive been unable to download any files via torrents easily. And no, not pirated stuff, after some music from mininova etc and just get messages "connection timed out" - dosent seem to matter what trackers are used.
If I leave it overnight and come back in the morning, its done. I used to be able to watch them start and fly in..........

Has Orcon started blocking torrent connections "on-peak" ?

(sigh)
Looks like this......... argh.

The link is from back in 2007. Orcon has always been shaping BitTorrent and doesn't explain the recently slow international speeds.

I have also noticed that since a few days ago my download speeds have dropped from 1.2mb/s to about 20kb/s :(

Is this problem consistent with Orcon ? Or is it just now.  I was planning to sign-up with Orcon, but I also do torrent stuff.  Maybe I'll just wait.

Well, back in 2007 they were obviously shaping/filtering (which all ISP's do to an extent) but Ive never struck it before on Orcon until this week...so assumed it was a bit more relaxed now but as I mentioned, if I leave it overnight, it seems to work fine. Ill try running some tests over the next few days and see if it is a on-peak thing, just me or if my mates down the road on Orcon also have noticed it and go from there......... it could jsut be some weird issue only affecting small group of users on an IP range or something.

Apart from that, Orcon is great :) Saving me money and I havent had to call the helpdesk for anything serious ;)
Of course having great staff like Sounddude and LennonNZ around helps too :)

I've had this problem since last thursday, I thought it was only me, been on the phone to them 4 times now. The last time this happened I said I might as well change to telecoms big time plan since that was the speeds I was getting, my internet was back to normal the next day, go figure.

Seems the slow speed is still with me at the moment.
Orcon seems to have these periods of intense slowness and then it comes right and then it goes slow. I just deleted my last slow speed template text files, but it last happened on the 10th of Feb.

You Tube, Apple (iTunes software) and Micrsoft (.Net File) all well under 50kb/sec
