I am a customer of Spark 4g broadband plan, and Spark has provided a modem that comes with it and also a Spark SIM card. I know it is against Spark policy but is there a way that I can hack the modem and use a One NZ 5g SIM as they have better coverage but don't let me connect to it.

No need for hacking - insert the One NZ SIM and change the apn to 'vodafone' and away you go.

APN is under Network > Mobile > Data APN

Works perfectly well. Only note is that any new firmware updates for the Spark SM2 wont get push to the device as its off the Spark network.

Not guaranteed or supported and you shouldn't do this.

Use what One NZ give you. One NZ have their own terms that their FWA modem is what is only supported, which also especially extends to the landline.

No - pretty sure it will not as it wont be able to communicate back to Spark's VOIP endpoints. They likely only allow access from their subnets.

Spark Smart Modem 2 - no. Its up to 4G

5G Spark Smart Modem - yes. Its up to 5G

If you have the Spark Smart Modem 2 and you want to use a One NZ sim in it - then it will work BUT - pretty sure they lock their wireless broadband plans to their devices. Ie. You cannot sign up for a One NZ wireless broadband plan and use it in a non supported modem/router. My suggestion is to use their supplied modem/router.

For ad-hoc SIM's - it will work.
