For several months now I have been checking the availability of UFB in my area, and it has always come back with:

UFB fibre up to 200 Mbps by Feb-2015

However we are now in March, and it still says the same thing. All work on the street was completed before Christmas, to the point of Chorus putting feeders and connection boxed on the poles (the street has fibre down one side, and I am on the other, so it will be overhead to the house from those poles).

I have asked Chorus several times and they say to just keep checking the site. Is there any way to know where things are at? If there are delays? How often the map data is updated?

When I check my RSP (BigPipe) I also get that that UFB is not available (which is to be expected).

Interesting! Maybe it needs to be signed off by someone who can't be found

Good point - I didn't think of that, but poor practice if it's true.

By the way, I notice the map on the site has been updated, and finally fixed the bug on the old map where the addition of Giga areas made the legend to big for the fixed size map.

Had the same thing at work in the middle of Auckland CBD a year ago - it gave a date like March 2014 - I think the work was completed but not available to ISPs until 3 or 4 months later. Guess there is testing then hooking up to do.

Usually you will start getting pestered by Telcos trying to sell you UFB once its all go....

my street says Sept 2015, when 2 weeks ago it said June 2016 ... not holding my breath ....

I was just reading another thread http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=162027&page_no=2 and see that 'Loafing' has been waiting 113 days for an install, after they requested one from Spark! I hope this is not indicative of the UFB process, otherwise it will be more like Feb-2016 than 2015

The Broadband Capability Map has been given a facelift, but unfortunately our schedule for UFB is still "between Jul-2019 and Dec-2019" ....

the chorus cost is subsidised, but how much would you be willing to pay for your ISP to send someone out to supervise your UFB install?

I sent Chorus a tweet yesterday as mine in Dunedin was supposed to be live before March 2015. They told me that it should be ready by the end of the month.

Well it says available for my address and I know it isn't.

How do you know it isn't? Has is not been physically installed? Or have Chorus or an ISP told you it's not available? Perhaps there are bigger issues with the accuracy of the map than just keeping it up to date.

Actually it was a monitor contrast issue. I didn't realize until I expanded the view to see the whole neighbourhood. It seems we are planned by Jun '16. But down the road where they're currently blowing fibre is planned after Jul '16.

And how I know. The fibre runs along my berm to get to the local primary school, but there are no connections to any of the houses along our stretch of the street. I know because the "digging stuff up" phase is quite self evident.

Aren't schools different in that they don't come under the UFB umbrella? I don't know the details, but someone may be able to confirm if they are on a physically different fibre. That could explain it?

its just a case of keep checking with your ISP and with the address checker on the chorus site.

the data sometimes lags behind, what has actually been done.

just a case of hurry up and wait.

I think the problem here is what does "ready" mean? Ready for testing? Ready to hand over orders to ISP's? Ready for ISP's to provision users?

I would like to see Chorus offer more detail and information on their UFB map, for example why can't they should some type of progress graphic, like physical work done, testing done, waiting to hand-over to ISP's? They have all the data needed for this.
