You wouldn't be going far.

Stuff was recently acquired by Vocus. Who are Slingshot.

Also these 'routers' are not that good. Asus routers in general are not actually that great.

There are multiple threads on here with the same, exact question - it happens so much that I have also got a blog post about it: https://murfy.nz/2018/02/06/picking-the-right-isp/ but really 2degrees has a great deal on right now and they provide a great router also.

I'm curious if there's a particular reason you want to change ISPs? Have you had a problem with Slingshot recently?

Users on these forums will often recommend 2degrees or Voyager for the reason they provide a solid product with good service at a reasonable price (plus they engage on Geekzone which is nice).

Changing from Slinghsot to Stuff will give you no technical benefit, Orcon/Stuff/Slingshot are all the same Vocus Network which BTW is one of the best in New Zealand

Other than that 2degress/voyager/spark etc are all good I would avoid MyRepublic & Vodafone

On another subject of RSPs giving away free routers - after taking this snap at my local landfill on the weekend I think the industry should stop issuing a new router for free with each new connection - it would stop scenes like this

and there are 4-5 boxes of them!

2degrees are a great solid ISP. No issues with them for years on fibre. Good routing, good performance. Safe choice, the only one I recommend to family and friends.
