The story so far.
I changed to naked VDSL and Italk. Naked VDSL change went smooth. Italk has been a disaster. I have had no phone since it was switched off for the Italk changeover. I could not get the Cisco ATA SPA122 Slingshot sent to work. Many hours on the phone putting settings in and changing/checking settings with no success. The Slingshot rep finally said, ring this 0800 number for help wwith the SPA122. Did that and got a nice Linksys rep who advised I needed to be talking to a Cisco rep. He gave me the phone number, I then talked to a nice Cisco rep who remoted into my system to have a look at the SPA122. Other than update the firmware and check settings ok he couldnt help me any further as he didnt know what Slingshots settings should be.
More hours spent on phone to Slingshot with no success. I asked if we could try the softphone software. X-Lite downloaded and installed, even this wouldnt work. More hours spent trying to get this work as well. I enlisted the help of an IT friend who also spent hours trying to help me with no success. He rung Slingshot on my behalf, managed to get put thru to a supervisor who had him setting up port fowarding and DMZ on my system. Still no success. I decided to setup the X-lite softphone on my friends Telecom broadband system. It worked immediately. I could even set up an android version of softphone and it worked.
Relayed this information to Slingshot, they had me turm my modem off so it would get a different IP address. This didnt fix anything. From what I can gather Slingshot seem to think the problem is there end now. Any body have any ideas on what I could try or what questions I could ask Slingshot.

update, problem fixed. The tech guy who phoned me to try a few things admitted he wasnt sure what fixed the problem. He had me setup port fowarding in the vdsl router but said it should work with out it. I discovered that deleting the port fowarding stopped Italk working, so put it back on.
The phone now works but will have to call Slingshot as the one feature I wanted doesnt seem to work. I have it setup to ring my cellphone and homephone at the same time, but it doesnt ring my cell phone. Have tried the usual formats IE 021 or 6421 and +6421.
After around 10 hours on the phone to Slingshot I really dont fancy more time talking to them.

You should never, never, never, never, never, never, never ever have a port forward SIP to an SPA device. Won't be a matter of if you to post on here saying you've been hacked, but simply how long it takes for you to post that.

Quite honestly if a provider can't provide a managed device, you should be looking elsewhere.

Further update. My new ASUS DSL-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 arrived. As soon as I had it up and running all my network devices were found including the Italk ata box. The ata now works withoutout any port fowarding involved. I asked Slingshot several times to send another modem/router but they didnt believe that was the problem. Seems it was.

Sounds like the issue was probably just a SIP ALG.

My only comment to that is, I was not asked by any of the Slingshot support staff to check that setting and neither did they know you can't have the softphone software and the ata running at the same same.

And that really sums up your choice of provider.

The reason I pulled all my provisioning work and a lot of other VoIP stuff I had was the sometimes 20-30 emails I'd get per week from people on iTalk and 2talk wanting support for VoIP.
