Came across this article on 2degrees FAQ: Changes to IP Addresses (CGNAT)

Looks like it's for broadband customers, no indication of when. Not surprised this is going to happen, given the price of IPv4 addresses and 2d not increasing their broadband prices for 2019.

(Thanks for supporting IPv6 on broadband by the way, would be nice on mobile too... :) )

Interesting CGNAT can break many things (Joe average will notice no difference)

Glad I didn't sign up for a new one year contract then. 2degrees has been great for years, but I want a standard connection to the internet to do whatever I want with, without the connection being messed with or limiting what I can do.

Bit annoying since I just resigned for 12months. I use dynamic DNS for a bunch of things so will need to not be behind CGNAT. Guess I will have to pay for a static IP address off them.

Edit: Any word when this may take effect?

CG-NAT by default on all plans excluding FibreMax - Can be switched to Dynamic IP free of charge via Tech Support - or Static IP for $5 a month ( Excluding Wireless Broadband which is free 🙂 )

Yup knew it was something like that. partner has the pain of one of the max lines that were door to door sold...

What's a good ISP that doesn't use CGNat, has good routing, and good customer service? Vodafone and Bigpipe ruled out, Vodafone for poor service and routing, Bigpipe for not having a support phone.

I've always been fairly happy with Spark as a mobile provider. How's their routing and general fiber offering?
