Hi all,

Right I've got a 3D monitor in the bedroom and I want iSky on it. It's got hdmi inputs only, no VGA, and my older laptop doesn't have hdmi out.

What are the options to get iSky going here?

$99 gets me:
A freeview box from the warehouse.
A 3D bluray player with wifi frm dick smith.
An Openbox S12 satellite box than can do dvb-s2.

Or Something that can actually display iSky???....

AppleTV would be cool but I understand that's still useless for on demand type content here in NZ?

I have a small Chinese medial player with internet the size of an Apple TV that I don't use any more. Can check how iSky is on it if you are interested. It has HDMI and decent spec'ed for a cheap Chinese player, just does not handle surround sound.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Bask in the glory of good tv when you want to watch it and use the money you save to go to the pub if you want to watch the rugby.

I've tried to use unblock-us.com to stream BBC iPlayer to my Mac and found myself in constantly-buffering hell despite having a decent 14Mbps DSL connection. Is is really reliable enough for Netflix on the Apple TV?

I have occaisional problems with BBC iPlayer using Airplay from my iPad to Apple TV, but Netflix is seamless almost every single time.  I use it mostly on an Apple TV.

go here

www.unblock-us.com

follow their very simple step by step instructions.  Even very tech illiterate people can do it provided you know how to use a mouse and keyboard :P

Interesting. I've got two different family members with Apple TVs set up with Netflix and Unblock-us on a Slingshot unlimited and a Telecom Total Home connection and both are rather reliable.

Yeah one of those 'cheap because the screen is stuffed' ones is handy if you know you only want to use it on a TV anyway.
