I’m having a few problems setting up lightbox via chromecast (using win10 tablet and pc).   I could only cast lightbox as a tab, and the quality was poor (the cpu usage was high too). However, YouTube worked great (ie as a google cast enabled website)

The lightbox instructions say:

"4. On your computer, select 'Play now' in the Lightbox player on the website. In the player select the Chromecast icon and connect to your Chromecast."

Unfortunately I couldn't find the Chromecast icon in the player.

Is Lightbox a “google cast enabled website” ?  If so, could someone please tell me how to cast from it.

I followed this up with Chromecast and casting as a tab seems to be how they've implemented it.

Here's the response I received:

Thanks for your email.

I've had a check with some of the team and I believe that through Chrome on a PC it's set up to mirror rather than handoff. In my experience, I've found it's better to use a mobile device (either iOS or Android), which will do the handoff for you.

I'll pass the feedback you've given in this email on to the devs for them to take into consideration - I don't know the feasibility of adding that functionality in, but they like to hear when we get customer feedback about a certain feature.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
David

The cast icon used to appear on the home page and after clicking it, episodes would "cast now" instead of "play now". But that seems to have gone away.

Wild speculation but maybe the awful new blue google cast extension isn't being detected by the site...?

Thanks, I got it to work.

The trick seems to be that sometimes you need to refresh the Lightbox home page before the chromecast icon will appear.

For anyone else who may have the same problem here's what worked for me.

1. Open and sign into Lightbox on Chrome

2. In the top right corner of the homepage, next to your name, there might be a chromecast icon.

3. If no icon is shown then refresh the web page (I tried F5 and also Ctrl +F5)

4. Click on the icon

5. The rest is obvious.

Reinstalling the extension and restarting chrome fixed it for me.
