I'm pretty sure their systems engineers hate rugby since most of their services fall over come game time.

SkyGo was surprisingly fine tonight!

And I do notice you're trying to get to Sky's main website.

SkyGo worked without a hitch last night, was very surprised. I assume their main website and SkyGo/FanPass are on different systems.

Slightly OT (apologies) but it still suits there title of the thread :-) and don't want to start a new one just for this.

WTF is going on with putting an ad between the haka and the kickoff, Sky? I already pay an exorbitant amount for Sky and the Sport add-on. And Hyundai should be embarrassed. They won't have gained one customer but annoyed a bunch of others.
I know they did it in the RWC, but got the same reaction then as well. Do what you like to the FTA delayed broadcast on Prime to help pay the bills but leave my paid for viewing alone!

Back OT. It would appear the OP's problem is yet another example of a good idea by Sky, poorly executed. If you want to gain a revenue stream from things like this, they have to be simple and work first time. They have got @Azzura's money this time but have probably done their chips as far as being a repeat customer goes.

It'd be almost like Sky adding commercial breaks to the movies on their movie channels.

They are bordering ondoing that to SoHo and their movie channels already. Little popup banners on the bottom promoting what's on next, or MySky, or Sky perks. And those awful "shrink the credits to half the screen, and do a shouty voice-over promo" interruptions on SoHo. And do they really have to run a promo for Lexus, seemingly in front of *every* show on SoHo?

Given what I'm paying, this annoys me greatly.

Considering you're paying an extra $10 per month for Soho I would expect it to be commercial free.

The do advertise it as commercial free and, arguably, it is. There are ads between shows but there are not supposed to be any during shows. However, they are pushing on this - with the pop up "reminder" banners, and promos shouted over the closing credits which are shrunk to a fraction of the screen to make room for the ad.

Gratuitous and irritating - and I'm not aware of a single person who values this type of irritation. So, on a premium channel, why do it?

I remember heaps of letters to the TV Guide when TVNZ started doing this in the 1990's. I don't think they still do it today do they?

I pay extra for Sky Sports and that definitely isn't commercial free (except Sunday morning between 6am and midday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day :) )
