While I appreciate MySkyHDi's ability to provide me with DD 5.1 audio on SkySport 1, I am finding it increasingly annoying when the commentary and game audio is drowned out by channels 4 and 5 which are obviously sourced in the stadium. If I wanted to listen to farting, burping, horn blowing fans, or stadium musak and announcements I would go to the game.
I understand that the surround channels provide important 'atmosphere' but could the levels not be turned down a bit? I don't believe it is my system calibration because the other Sky HD channels in DD5.1 are fine, it's just the DD5.1 sports.

The only advantage I can see t the moment as I watch the Hurricanes vs Brumbies game is that the crowd are drowning out Murray Mexted

My only simple option is to downmix to stereo, but kind of defeats the purpose of having DD at all.

yeah, i noticed this too, the crowd noise and ground annoucements are too loud.

maybe worth firing an e-mail to Sky about?

Can't you just adjust your desired speaker levels down for the 4th and 5th channels you want reduced in volume? Very easy to do on most receivers via a remote.

Gee why didn't I think of that.
I could, but since I have it set up how I like it for all other audio I don't believe I should need to alter the speakers away from their calibrated settings just because Sky broadcast technicians can't get their levels right.
If it turns out that it only bugs me then that is the course I might take, although I am more likely to just set the receiver to downmix to stereo, it is only sport after all

Here it is a week later. I am watching the Blues/Hurricanes match at the same venue (Cake Tin), it may just be my imagination but the commentary and on-field audio is more clearly heard and the stadium/crowd noises more muted (providing atmosphere).

So if an adjustment has been made then THANK YOU SKY SPORT TECHNICIANS.

oh, good, it wasn't just me. I thought the same thing. I thought it was just cos I was sitting in another seat.
