I realise this question has been touched on here some time ago. I'm on a Sky basic plan and I'm thinking of upgrading my old decoder and getting MySky HDi. I really want HD but only on the FTA channels. Don't need sport or movie channels (already have copious HD-DVD/blu-rays) It seems from the Sky website, and the team leader I spoke to at Sky, that the only way to get the "HD ticket" is to also subscribe to movies or sports, or forgo the $10 month by buying multiroom. It seems stupid that I should have to do this, or even pay $10 extra for an HD ticket, when the FTA channels are free on Freeview HD. Can anyone confirm whether you can in fact currently get TV3 in HD, without paying for those extras. If so, do you know what the plan is when TV1&2 come online in HD.

And one more thing. Are these boxes stable yet? I believe there were lots of problems at the begining.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

As long as you have an HDi box then you get TV3 HD. If you want the other channels in HD then you need to subscribe to them PLUS subscribe to the HD Ticket but this is obviously not important to you.

As far as TV1 and TV2 go this hasn't been announced yet to my knowledge. You would hope and expect it would work the same as TV3 but this may not be the case.

Other than a bad firmware upgrade in the early days resulting in a full power-off before it would work again I haven't had too many issues with it. I do find it over-exposes the picture but I guess that's meant to make the picture look more dynamic. Sport tends to suffer a bit from tearing due to being interlaced. Both are fixed by a good HTPC but again not your request at the moment. For a Sky STB it's not bad though a bit expensive but hey mine's been turned off for the past 4 months so I can't really talk now. 8-)
