Sky wont work on new tv?

Hi,
I am new to this!
i have just recently bought a new samsung 23" dtv monitor hdtv, however my sky box (original) doesnt seem to be working.
I have used the scart to scart conection however it says no signal.
I am just wondering if i should try a scart to rgb conection.

Either the video output settings are wrong in the sky box or more likely the scart to scart cable you have is not wired correctly for Sky.

I recall a few years ago trying to connect up a new TV via a standard commercial Scart-to-component cable. It didn't work. I had to get in a sky technician in who supplied one of the Sky equivalent cables. I suspect the Sky Scart cables are proprietary to them.

don't you have to go into the menus on the sky box and tell it that it is scart out?

Hi benb,

Yes, LennonNZ is correct. If you are now using a different type of connection out of your Sky receiver then you need to go into the "advanced setup" menu and change the settings under "Scart setup". The first setting is for whatever you've connected up to the "TV" scart of the Sky receiver and the second setting applies to the "VCR" scart of the Sky receiver.

Thanks for everyones suggestions,
Its sorted now and it turns out it was because my scart cable was too old and i needed to buy a new up-to-date one.

We have the Pace Sky digital decoder.

Scart to component does not use proprietary cable for this box. You do need to go into the Sky service menu however and specify component out.
