Anyone else experiencing this? Some channels are OK, others come and go. Message on screen talks of atmospheric issues and the red signal light on front of the MySkyHSI box is on. I'm in ChCh by the way.

3 things:

Dish allignment - if your wall has moved, the dish will be off allignment

New cordless phone - some combinations will knock out some channels only.

Its raining. Sky are cheap and use small dishes on domestic installs, the margins are slim for the signal and some rain will take it down enough to not work.

It actually just stopped working and is now fine... Dish is on roof ( about 2 months old ) And my sky mate came over and changed my scart leads after my old tv died ( after the 6.3) and checked everything then.

All is fine now.

Our small silver SD box (in Auckland) crashed this afternoon. Was working fine at 2:30, was crashed with "dotty" screen when we got home about 4:30. Something screwed it up this afternoon, had to cycle power. Nice hard rain here, but normally that would only do "rain fade". Coincidence, or was the issue wider spread?

Its been raining heavy in Auckland, the uplink is just as prone as the down, hence the issue.

Its sure was heavy before. My sat freeview box was losing signal, and I normally have it when many others are losing their sky because of the larger dish.

Our small silver SD box keep getting rain fade/blocky picture yesterday afternoon yet there was no rain. The problem went away on it own.

which frequency cordless phones interfere with skytv? 1.8ghz? 2.4ghz? 5ghz? i thought skytv uses a totally different frequency range.

DECT 1.8GHz cordless phones are the issue.

Optus D1 downlink transponders run 12.331GHz to 12.707GHz, with a 10.750GHz LO you get a 1.581-1.975GHz Lband IF on the downlead cable, so DECT is right bang in the middle.

They had a list that installers had, it depended on the box, the LO and what band, was mainly 1.8 I think. As they put a phone socket in, he said it was common for people to put their cordless by the skybox and then lose one or more muxes. Remember that the cable doesnt carry the sat freq's, they are downconverted to the L band which is about 1 to 2GHz, (cant recall exactly right now) so yes, cordless phones can deal to it, and there are other issues with it getting into after the mixer in the tuner in them when very close so out of band things will sometimes knock out a specific frequancy if very strong.

The old 11.3GHz LO LNbs dont have the same issue as the LBand IF ends up in the 950MHz-1.5GHz region, well clearing DECT band.

With a 10750 LO LNB the main transponder effected is TP15, which carries ESPNm Sky Movies2, Nick, TV3, Four, Sky Box office 200, KTV2, CCTV4
