Surely no excuses either way.

Bet they've got heaps of MySky+ decoders but they cost more (even though they shouldn't!)

Might have something to do with a promo they've been running. Son n law got a promo phone call offer last week. To upgrade to MySkyHDi with no monthly rental for as long as you subscribe to Sky, 3 months free multiroom. He took the offer and I believe it was installed on Monday. Not sure if there was an installation fee.

Hah fantastic, just as I was about to order sky too!  Hopefully they'll have enough of the mysky boxes as the price difference is quite small overall.

slackers?????

inexcusable really for a major company to run out of key supplies regardless of promo or whatever....just further supports my view that they are a greedy company and are trying to gouge even more profits.

How are they making money out of a shortage of mysky's? Sounds like they are loosing money by not being able to upsell people to mysky + hd ticket

Obvious....they just wait to the RWC is over and all the cancellations and hey presto they have heaps of decoders spare.

The NZ Herald has an update on the situation with revised availability dates for MySky HDi decoders. Apparently there are more on order. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10747255

we use Sky a lot, but just can't bothered with Sky+ our UI is already cluttered enough with stuff, scrolling through screens and screens of stuff.

I just can't think of another company that if you asked to upgrade and pay more money they would tell you to wait in line. It just doesn't make sense.

lol, apple does this all the time as do other companies. 22 to days isnt that long a period to wait. im not a sky fan, but im on sky side with this, he waited too long.

The guy in the article was "shocked" at the time to wait, and

"I thought I got in with heaps of time ... When they said not even before the start of the Rugby World Cup I thought, 'You are the only one showing the Rugby World Cup, surely you have to be on top of your services' ... it just seems a little bit retarded."

A little retarded is thinking that during one of the highest demand periods that there may not be a backlog or shortage.

They can catch the start of the cup on nearly every freeview chanel available, and if his folks just purchased a TV, surely it will have a freeview tuner.
