"Because of unprecedented interest, fans of the series can whet their appetite for the new season with an advance preview within 24 hours of its broadcast on HBO."

Kudos to Sky for this.  People asked for Sky to show things sooner in NZ and sky are delivering.

Even the SoHo regular show will only be a week later than the US is showing it.

Is an "advance preview" the same as screening the whole series the day after it screens in America?

read the article.
they are showing episode 1 advance preview on iSky only 24 hours after it shows in the USA .

episode 1 will show on satellite SoHo 1 week after that.  Remaining episodes will show 1 week after they are broadcast in the USA.

Any longer than a day or two and there is always that buccaneer inlet website to get content from.

(....which you shouldn’t do of course. Just saying that a lot of people do this.)

I have no interest in watching Game of Thrones on a computer screen via Isky when I can watch it in full High Definition on a large screen tv.

Kudos to Sky though for screening this programme on Soho only one week after it airs in the US.

... and with Mad Men. The next season starts shortly in the US (this month I believe) and we are really looking forward to that - a really great programme.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

+1

I have no idea why anyone bothers buying an HDTV if all they are ever going  to do is watch dodgy low bitrate downloads of TV shows/Movies... just doesn't make sense at all to me Undecided.

It's not like it's that long to wait for a nice fat HD satellite feed... Cheers Sky Smile

720p rips look pretty nice and clear and the recent move to the new x264 encoding leaves a lot clearer quality without the annoying focus shifting of the previous version.

There's also the ability to store long term with no capacity issues, Ability to watch a TV episode while typing this post on the same screen, The ability to let my family upstairs watch the mp4/avi/mkv off my computer while I watch a different show, the ability to track down shows that will never be played on NZ TV, the ability to share with others who do not own and can not afford a decent TV, The ability to copy to my laptop and take them where ever I want, and plenty more things out there.

Although, I will note as nice as it is to see x264 and better quality rips I will move to 720p once HDD's stabilize in price and I get my nice 100Mbit Fibre connection with a 1TB cap.

EDIT:

Back on topic in the thread however...

Playing within 24 Hours is a move in the right direction and nice to see but for one Episode it is a joke and a marketing gimmick, A terrible one at that.
