We are upgrading our myskyhdi tomorrow for the mysky+.

They said we can keep our current mysky instead of the old sky digital (silver) for multiroom and are giving us a modulator.

The second decoder is in our bedroom and feeds off to our daughters room

We were hoping to get a feed to our sons room but it is going to cost $160 dollars. Just for some wiring.

Now if we do the job ourselves, what cables do we need to buy? I just don't know their name.

And is it easy to plug into the modulator they install?

I'll probably talk to the skyman in the morning about this - as I am still unsure the CSR understood what I wanted done.

If you are running it off the MySky, you connect the modulator to the AV outputs of the MySky and run a aerial cable from the modulator to the RF input of the TV you want to run it to. Pretty easy. It gets a little more tricky if you want that TV to also recieve broadcast TV (you will need to merge the RF signal from the modulator with the broadcast signal from the aerial).

Its pretty easy. Straight RF cable from the modulator to the third TV will do. I forget the plugs but somebody on here will know. I have bought most of the stuff I have ever needed off trademe. Never bothered making the cables myself. Always easier to just tell them what u want.

But that said, it depends on your house. If you need to go under, drill holes in the floor etc to get the cable in etc.. $160 in such a case is not that much and sounds like a good deal to me.

Pearl,

You need a :2 Way F splitter , RG6 coax ,F compression connectors ,F 75R adapter ( you need a tool for the connectors , see the thread a few days ago.You can use twist on's ,I would not recommend it , but if it's all indoors and wont be subject to any movement ( ie when your cleaning etc) then prob ok.

Hi Brunzy - they are taking the silver digital box and putting the old myskyHDI from the lounge into the bedroom (master) where the old siverone was. and the new myskyhdi+ is going in the lounge.

So it will be MyskyHDI in our bedroom with the modulator connecting to our daughters room, and then his room his next to her room so if we connect it from her room with a splitter(?) then we can get a shorter cable I guess.

I just cannot understand how they can justify something so easy and simple with a $160 price tag and it would probably take the skyman less than 10 minutes to do.

Also her cable runs under the house, I don't know if that makes a difference?

This seems like the easiest option. I'll also talk to the skyman tomorrow morning.

I am pretty sure my husband is quite capable of drilling a hole in the floor, we'll just need to borrow a drill off of a neighbour.

Not looking forward to having to set up all my recordings in the new mysky+ - we are such big tv addicts *blush*

I do however have a silly question...with this modulator can they use the sky remote in their bedrooms? Or do I have to buy some fancy remotes or something else?

My daughters be ok with doing the remote from our bedroom, it mainly is on Disney - but with the mysky down there, she might want to record teen movies and be able to pause them from her room.

Its probably a 'one price fits all' case, where that price would cover an easy installation like yours, or a more difficult installation e.g. from one end of the house to another, maybe routing the cable outside, etc.

Also, if they are doing a separate trip for it, then the price would include a call out fee for the tech coming to visit.

Probably still a fairly profitable exercise for them though.

You already have one TV connected to the internal Mod of the Pace box.Swap that for the new Mod, then split it to two rooms

You'll need to buy IR repeaters for this. Basically it's like a little remote receiver that transmits the button pushes on the remote in one place to a little transmitter that you secure directly in front of the Sky box's receiver. Then of course you'll probably need extra remotes or a couple of universal remotes.

Just to confirm though, you are aware that whatever your daughter watches is what your son will be stuck watching too right? You can only output one channel at a time to all the attached TVs.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Just had the skyman leave.

He said the easiest way is split it from my daughters room. So we'll go to Jaycar and see how much those cost and it will probably only need 3 metres of aerial cable and a drill borrowed from the neighbours.

Just to clarify - It is not the silver pace sky digital decoder we have multiroom on now (from today, they took that away this morning), it is now the old myskyhdi from the lounge (new myskyhdi+ in lounge), they took the silver one away which is why we have the modulator from the myskyhdi in our bedroom to our daughters room.

Hope that makes sense :D
