langi27: I see Vodafone officially announce they are in bed with Sky Neon service

http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/65447258/vodafone-to-offer-neon-free-for-six-months-as-sweetene

as a SNAP customer i'm feeling a bit unloved.

pretty weak offer compared to the Lightbox one.

6 months instead of 12

only available to new customers instead of all customers (possibly available to existing customers who re-sign, but that's still worse than Lightbox which is available to all Spark BB customers, regardless of contract)

Lightbox deal available to any spark BB customer.  Neon deal not available in conjunction with other offers  According to this (http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/vodafone-set-offer-sky-tvs-neon-free-not-those-my-sky-deal-ck-167801)

While we keen users of Lightbox all celebrate the 12-months of free Lightbox, I'm compelled to chip in here and just say that as a user of the service since inception, it has just got better and better.

I access Lightbox on my iPad and Airplay to my ethernet-connected (no Wi-Fi for video streaming thankyou, my experiences with WiFi are well over) Panasonic Smart TV via Apple TV...and this works so well!  I can quickly kick off a show and "beam" the content to the big TV with ease.  Quality is great and use of the iPad as a remote from my couch is just cool.

So what frustrates the hell out of me is to why Lightbox (God bless them) are the only provider to support Apple Airplay? I'd like to also take advantage of TV One and 3 Ondemand, but to get their content to the big screen is really difficult - unfortunately no-one seems to want to produce an app for Panasonic Smart TV's either.  Quickflix also don't support Airplay...it'll be really interesting to see if Neon does.

So I signed up for this 12 month deal and so far I have to say I am impressed. The available content is better than I thought for a local provider and I already started binge watching shows I have missed out on. The streaming quality and response time is good and so is the PS4 app. If you happen to have a Sony TV you can use your TV remote to navigate the PS4 app.

Two things I am missing: Chromecast support and native support for my none Samsung Android tablet. When this is done I will happily pay for this service once the deal runs out.

All the system wide metrics are green, so it's a local issue...

Weird, continuing issues on PS3! Have tested Nba Game Time and Vidzone and no issues what so ever!

Just got a letter from Spark kicking my current 80GB plan upstairs to Unlimited plus this 12 months free Lightbox offer. Good news with two extra bandwidth leeches in my house. Pity the Lightbox site is down though. Maybe they've been inundated with a flood of free offer takers....

I really thought lightbox had movies but its just TV shows.

edit: cant even get anything to play, silverlight only crashes

And the selective support of only Samsung android devices is terrible.

I was intending to make my way to Bigpipe but will stay with Spark until the free Lightbox runs out.  Will be really interesting to see what's on offer this time next year.  I assume Neon will have launched by then or maybe they'll still be ironing out the odd wrinkle.
