SheriffNZ: I suspect we've moved slightly off topic....

For the record, I have cancelled Sport, and the basic package but still have their freeview package for $18/m. I also have netflix and lightbox.

If I do that will I still have to pay 15 or 20 for MySky box? HD Ticket?

I "bought" my box outright when I signed up by paying the $600 or so dollars rather than the $15 or so a month. I presume you'd have to pay it but I'm not sure.

I don't have the HD ticket either although I understand that 1,2,3 broadcast in HD anyway so it's not needed. I may be wrong on that point though.

You didn't buy outright it was a prepaid rental of $600 it is still a Sky owned box

Hence the quotation marks.

So, for me, to keep the Sky box which Im happy with, its 18 + 20 for my box, 38. $38 to have a recorder, hmm I got an FV one already. And Id say that Id be out of luck for the $49 deal if that comes up again.

For a lot of people, for a long time, Sky was their only choice for pay-TV. For some today (ie, can't get decent broadband) it still is.

Err, I think I must be watching a different Maori TV to you. The one I watch has many more documentaries and intelliggent films than the likes of TVNZ/TV3. Not to mention way less cooking, home renovation, cop chasing and border control reality shows. And best of all, no Mike Hosking. It's a halfway decent offering that stacks up way better than the heavily dumbed-down TVNZ and TV3. Have you actually watched it recently?

Care to list some examples of those great documentaries and intelliggent films? I struggle to find anything interesting.

Actually watched the walking dead last night. Awesome show.

Sorry to disappoint, fat fingger, that's all.

Hmmn, some examples. How about tonight, 8.30pm ...

Maori TV. 20 Feet from Stardom. 2013 Oscar nominated film for best documentary.
TV1. Piha rescue. Reality surf show.
TV3. The Block. Reality home renovation show.

Nuff said.

I cancelled multi-room, I couldn’t go all the way & totally cancel sky. I like cricket too much and the MySky user experience better than TiVo.
10 mins on hold around 9pm last night. No questions asked, just told me to drop off the box.

Lol, if they're true mates they should be splitting the cost of the total monthly package with you!!

I can't cancel Sky completely just yet, but I did call up to remove sports and SoHo on MOnday - they were great to deal with. Still wish you could do it on the website.

Question - is it confirmed that TV1,2,3 are in HD on MySky HDi without the HD ticket?
